        Romeo ve Juliet'in destansı aşk hikayesi çağdaş dünyada vuku bulsaydı nasıl bir trajediye yol açardı. Yine aynı, ancak bu defa kılıçların yerini "kılıç adları" taşıyan modern silahlar alacaktır. Başarılı yönetmen Baz Luhrman, bu defa William Shakespeare’ın trajik aşk öyküsü Romeo ve Juliet’i beyazperde'ye aktardı. Avustralyalı dahi yönetmenin filminde olaylar günümüz Florida’sında geçiyor. Filmde Romeo (Leonardo DiCaprio) ve Juliet (Claire Danes), kentin iki düşman ailesinin çocuklarıdır. Trajik bir rastlantı sonucu iki genç birbirlerine aşık olurlar ve ailelerin savaşının ortasında bir kaçış bulmaya çalışırlar. 1996 yapımı "Romeo ve Juliet" filminde Leonardo DiCaprio ile Claire Danes'in umutlu bir çift profili çizdiklerini söylemek mümkün.
