Luigi Celeste ha vent’anni e vive con la madre Licia e il fratello Alessandro. I tre sono uniti da un legame profondo. Based on the autobiography “It won't always be this way” by Luigi Celeste, Familia is a story about domestic violence. Luigi Celeste is twenty years old and lives with his mother Licia and his brother Alessandro. The three are very close. It has been almost ten years since any of them has last seen Franco, their partner and father, who ruined the two boys’ childhood and Licia’s youth with memories of fear and abuse. Luigi lives a common life and, while looking for a sense of belonging and identity, decides to join an extreme right-wing group where rage and oppression are still rampant. One day Franco returns, claiming his children and his family back, but he is still the man who used to poison everything he touched, making those he loved prisoners of his shadow. That of Luigi and his family is a story that goes down to the depths of the abyss to pursue a path of rebirth, whatever the cost.
