Who is Mehmet Ergen?
BiographyBilsak'ta bir yıl süreyle aldığı tiyatro eğitiminin ardından 1988'de Londra'ya giderek, orada tiyatroya başlayan Ergen, oyunculuk ve yönetmenlik yaptı. Southwark Playhouse’da ve Hoxton Hall’de genel sanat yonetmenliği, danışmanlık, Royal Court Theatre’da metin danışmanlığı, Paddington Arts’da Gençlik Tiyatrosu yönetmenliği, Battersea Arts Centre’da yapımcılık gibi görevlerde bulundu. 2000 yılında Londra'da Arcola Theatre'ı kurdu, genel sanat yönetmenliğini üstlendi. Theorem tiyatro seminerinde İngiltere’yi temsilen konuşmacı olarak görev aldı. BBC ve ITV'de filmlerde oyunculuk yaptı. Sadece Tiyatro ve sinema ile sınırlı kalmayıp, opera ve müzikallerde de yönetmenlik yaptı. İngiltere dışında da İrlanda ve İsrail'de oyunlar yönetti. Kent Oyuncuları, Tiyatro Anadolu, İstanbul Devlet Tiyatrosu, Açık Tiyatro, İzmit Şehir Tiyatrosu, Istanbul Halk Tiyatrosu gibi kuruluşlara yönetmenlik katkısında bulundu. İstanbul Devlet Tiyatrosu müdürü Osman Wöber'in istifası üzerine, 59. Hükümet kültür bakanı Atilla Koç'a istifa çağrısında bulunduğu bir mektup göndermesiyle gündemde yer aldı. Akbank Kültür Sanat Merkezi'nde Yeni Kuşak Tiyatro'da yönetmekte, Londra'daki çalışmalarını sürdürmektedir.
