        Who is Samih Tiryakioğlu?

        Biography

        Samih Tiryakioğlu, 1909’da doğdu. Galatasaray Lisesi ve İÜ Ga­zetecilik Enstitüsü’nü bitirdikten son­ra uzun yıllar gazetecilik ve çevirmenlik yaptı. Hürriyet gazetesinin yazıişleri müdürlüğünü üstlendi, Uluslararası Ba­sın Enstitüsü’nün (IPI) başkan vekilliği görevinde bulundu. Honoré de Balzac, Gustave Flaubert, Stendhal, Émile Zola, Victor Hu­go, Joseph Kes­sel, Jean-Paul Sartre, Albert Camus gibi yazarların yapıtlarını dilimize kazandırdı. Tiryakioğlu, 1995 yılında öldü.
