        Japonya ile Türkiye’nin ilişkilerine damga vuran ve iki ülke arasındaki dostluğun pekişmesinde büyük rol oynayan iki tarihi olay; Japon-Türk ortak yapımı “Ertuğrul 1890” filmiyle beyazperdeye yansıyor! 1890 yılında Japon sularında batan Osmanlı fırkateyni Ertuğrul’un hazin hikayesi ve Japonlar'ın gemi mürettebatını kurtarma çabaları ile 1985’te Tahran'da Saddam Hüseyin tehdidiyle mahsur kalan 215 Japon vatandaşının, Turgut Özal’ın talimatıyla THY tarafından İran-Irak savaşından kurtarılmasının çarpıcı öyküsünü kurgusal bir senaryoyla anlatılacak.
