        Yıl 1970 İran. Marjane Statrapi, gencecik gözlerle izlemektedir İran rejiminde olan bitenleri. Bugüne kadar yazılıp çizilen onca şeyin ardından bir kez de küçük bir kızın penceresinden bakmanın farklı tadı yansıyor perdeye. Marjane’in ailesi Şah iktidarının düşüşü karşısında çok mutludurlar. Ekonomik ve toplumsal yaşam standartları açısından artık yeni umutlar filizlenmiştir. Onca zor zamanlardan sonra artık demokratik bir yönetim anlayışına kavuşacaklarını düşünen İranlılar hayalkırıklığı yaşayacaklardır. Şimdi de mollaların zamanıdır. Bu karanlık dönemleri Marjane’in penceresinden anlatan Persepolis çizgi roman başyapıtı olarak nitelendiriliyor.
