Patricia Velasquez, altı çocuğun beşte biri olan 31 Ocak 1971'de Venezuela'nın Guajira kentinde doğdu. Üçüncü dünya ülkesinde, ikisi de eğitimci olan ebeveynleri tarafından büyütüldü.
